DNV’s growth continues

2024 was another record-breaking year for DNV, with a 10.7% growth compared to the previous year. The company continues its strong commitment to the renewable energy sector, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence with unwavering strength.

Høvik, Norway, 26 March 2025 - DNV reported operating revenues of 34,966 million NOK in 2024 and has already surpassed its revenue target for the 2021–2025 strategy period. The company is also on track to achieve its strategic goals related to markets, customers, employees, and sustainability.

“In a time of increasing polarization and declining trust, managing risk and creating trust between stakeholders have never been more important. This drives the demand for our services and the unique expertise of our more than 15,000 employees, which is also reflected in our strong financial results. We are continuing enhancing our leading position in ship classification and services helping customers to tackle the energy transition. New areas in which we have significantly increased our impact are cybersecurity, digital health and the safe use of artificial intelligence in industrial applications,” says Remi Eriksen, Group President & CEO of DNV.

DNV Annual report cover 2024The green transition is well underway, which is reflected in DNV’s growth in both the maritime and energy sectors. In 2024, 29% of all newly ordered ships were built according to DNV’s classification rules, with an even higher share for ships powered by LNG or methanol (37%). DNV also experienced increased activity in carbon capture and storage as well as battery solutions for energy storage, both of which will play a crucial role in the energy transformation.

Cybersecurity is a key pillar in DNV’s growth strategy, as the company protects what is most critical for society and its clients. In 2024, DNV Cyber was established, bringing together over 500 cybersecurity experts with experience in both IT and OT security. Over the past three years, DNV has heavily invested in research on responsible artificial intelligence and AI assurance. In 2024, the company secured several milestone projects, ranging from securing AI-enabled systems to conducting third-party AI maturity assessments.

DNV’s workforce grew from 14,841 employees in 2023 to 15,420 in 2024, representing 125 nationalities. The company now has offices in 72 countries and operates in over 100 nations.
